Canada’s Clean Fuel Regulation (“CFR”) is a Government of Canada policy that is expected to increase demand for liquid biofuel use in Canada created from certain crops like canola, corn, soybeans and wheat.
The Clean Fuel Regulations will increase demand for low carbon intensity fuels, including those derived from canola and other agricultural crops. This represents an opportunity for Canadian farmers to diversify their business through new domestic markets.
WHAT WILL I NEED TO DO AS A FARMER?
Bunge is asking you to sign a Declaration confirming that your crops meet the requirement for the CFR. The Declaration will include the following information.
Confirmation that the crop was grown in Canada and is therefore eligible for applicable regulatory Land Use and Biodiversity exemptions and provisions. All Canadian farms are eligible to sign the Declaration.
A single set of GPS coordinates representative of the harvested area of the crop. An example could include the farmyard or the location of the bins. Coordinates must be accurate to the 5th decimal point.
An acknowledgement that you understand that the Declaration may be subject to third-party verification. You must retain a copy of the Declaration for 10 years.
